 Nancy
Barrett, BA, CAE
Nancy has more than 20 years of experience in industry, government and the association sector. For the past 8 years, Nancy has consulted to the not-for-profit sector, providing Executive Director services for five of her clients. Nancy is a Partner with AMCES and is responsible for association management services provided by the organization.
Through both her consulting and volunteer work, Nancy has been
directly involved in the development and implementation of organizational
infrastructure including administrative, financial and membership
systems. Nancy has worked with boards of directors to ensure
proper governance and to design and implement volunteer committee
structures, providing facilitation as required. Nancy has added
value to the members of her clients by creating and managing
electronic and print communication tools and working with volunteers
to design and deliver educational programming. Nancy has also
conducted surveys on behalf of her clients and has been engaged
to develop membership recruitment and sponsorship programs. Nancy
has been involved in the planning and delivery of over 50 events.
Nancy was also extensively involved in a successful campaign
to ensure fair taxation treatment for the industry one of her
clients represented. Her involvement included establishing relationships
with politicians, government officials and other industry groups,
coordinating meetings and working with Board members to develop
and present submissions. Nancy has served as a board member for
a variety of organizations including the Ottawa Gatineau Chapter
of the Canadian Society of Association Executives, where she
co-chaired both the Membership Committee and the Education Committee.
Nancy is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and a Certified
Association Executive (CAE).
